Shaping Innovation: An Interview with Josef Mejzeš, TAF Production Engineer

1. Congratulations on your new position as production engineer. Can you tell us something about your background and what brought you to TAF in 2014?
I graduated from the Secondary Technical School in Uničov, specializing in mechanical engineering, and completed my studies with a final exam in 2005. In the same year, I joined Papcel Litovel a.s., a company that manufactures machines for the paper industry, as a technologist. My main tasks included creating production processes and designing fixtures in CAD programs. During my four years at this company, I gained a lot of valuable experience that taught me how to make independent decisions and work with a large team of people.
In my next position at HOPAX, I worked as a project manager, processing documentation provided by customers and creating bills of materials and material lists for ordering materials. In 2014, my desire for professional growth and new challenges led me to leave my position at that time and look for new opportunities. The first ad that caught my attention was from TAF, where I sent my resume. I liked it here from the very first interview, and thanks to the welcoming approach of the company's management, I started working as a designer within a few days.
2. What were your responsibilities during your time in the technical department?
My main job in the technical department was to create drawings for new products and enter them into the company system.
Specifically, I worked as a designer and engineer on the development of new products for the company in the field of aluminium truss beams. I processed customer documentation, provided expert advice, and designed the most suitable solutions, including the design of atypical, special parts. My work also included the design of technological devices that facilitate and refine production processes. I supervised the progress of orders in production through to final assembly and shipment to the customer.
3. Was there anything you learned during your time at TAF that surprised you or that you found particularly interesting?
You learn throughout your whole life, and every new experience brings you an opportunity to grow and get to know yourself better. At TAF, I realized that if you really want something and put in the effort, you can achieve almost anything. Even difficult situations can be overcome if you believe in your abilities and don't give up at the first hurdle.
Working at TAF also showed me how important teamwork, trust, and mutual support are. When determination, communication, and a willingness to help each other come together, even complex projects can be handled with ease and a good feeling. This has given me greater self-confidence and taught me to work better under pressure.
4. What are your new responsibilities as a production engineer?
In my new position as a production engineer, my main responsibilities are creating production procedures and setting time standards. In addition, I focus on optimizing these procedures based on real production data to ensure that processes are as efficient as possible and that products are delivered on time and in the required quality.
5. How do you like to spend your time outside of TAF? Do you have any hobbies or other special activities?
I like to spend time with my family. As for hobbies, I don't have much time for them at the moment, but when I get the chance, I like to go fishing with my sons. These moments are a pleasant break for me and an opportunity to spend quality time with my loved ones.
