From welding machines to robots to production planning: The story of Ota Kříž
1. Could you shortly introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your career path so far?
I joined the company in 2016 as a welder and gradually worked my way through the entire production process. I put my practical experience to good use in 2019, when I took over the management of the robotic workstation, where I was responsible for the smooth running of operations, maintenance and results. I have been working as a production planner since 2025. Thanks to my knowledge of our operations from both a welding and automation perspective, I am now able to plan production with a realistic overview.
2. What led you to the field of planning, and what do you enjoy most about this job?
I was given the opportunity to move into planning by production manager David Sanetrník. What fulfils me most in my role as a planner are the challenges presented by demanding projects, where we can fully demonstrate our quality and ability to respond flexibly.
3. What are your main tasks and responsibilities as a planning manager?
As a planner, I’m responsible for ensuring orders flow smoothly and seamlessly through production. Every day, I coordinate production capacity, monitor the availability of materials, and work closely with the purchasing, technical and sales departments. My main responsibility is to ensure that we utilise our capacity efficiently, prevent downtime and meet the deadlines we have promised our customers.
4. Plans often change due to new orders, deadlines or the availability of materials. How do you deal with such changes and unexpected situations?
I regard unexpected situations as a natural part of my job. Working with colleagues across departments, I always try to find a solution that best meets the customer’s requirements.
5. How do you most enjoy spending your time outside work?
I spend my free time with my family and close friends. For me, the best way to relax is to be out in nature, whether in the woods or by the water.
